GCSE ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE REVISION WORKSHOPS

Following positive feedback from previous years and in response to demand, A-Star English will be running revision workshops during the Easter holidays, from the 6th-9th April 2020. Our revision sessions are aimed at both Years 10 and 11 , with the focus on the GCSE public examinations and will be held in the Badger Farm Community Centre, Winchester SO22 4QB. (Located behind Sainsbury’s car park.)

A-Star English believe that a group learning environment creates opportunities for active learning – a proven system for allowing the memory to retain information. A difficulty with much group learning, however, is that attention can be less focused than in a one-to-one learning environment. Our workshops overcome this with a high staff-to-student ratio, ensuring that individual needs are met.

Each session will be run by at least two of our Tutors, assisted by Support Assistants at the busiest times. Sessions will contain dynamic and focused activities which will boost A-Star English’s scheme of one-to-one private tuition. They will correspond directly with the examinations set by the AQA exam board and so prepare and familiarize students with the content and structure of their exams. (We can also accommodate students sitting exams with different boards or the Cambridge IGCSE).

Students will be provided with a revision folder for use within the workshops. At the end of the course, they can take it away to help them in their final revision weeks.

The following pricing scheme applies.

* One or two sessions - £40 per session

Year 9 students are welcome to attend the English Language sessions.

* If a student is staying for both the morning and afternoon sessions, they will either need to bring a packed lunch, or visit Starbucks on site. However, rest assured plenty of other light refreshments will be provided throughout the day!

* Between three and eight sessions - £35 per session (There are 8 sessions in total, so for students who attend the full four days, the cost will be: £280)
